Law professor Daniel Turp filed his motion to appeal the the withdrawal of Canada from the Kyoto Protocol.
M. Turp and his “Team Kyoto” contested the Harper government’s right to unilaterally make the decision last December for Canada to withdraw from the Kyoto Protocol.
The withdrawal is to take effect within one year at the latest, that is, next December 15.
They were rejected by the Federal Court on July 17, then filed a motion with the Federal Court of Appeal.
In the appeal, obtained by “The Canadian Press,” M. Turp requests once more that the court declare the withdrawal of Canada from the Kyoto Protocol “illegal, null and void.”
He contends that the House of Commons and the provinces should have been consulted before the Harper government announced Canada’s withdrawal from the Kyoto Protocol.
