In recent weeks Toronto’s Mayor Rob Ford has been making headlines around the world after a series of allegations and scandals.First Ford admitted to smoking crack cocaine while in office and he has also been accused of trying to cover up evidence that would have proven his drug habit. Next Ford had to deny having an affair with a former staffer saying, “I would never do that. I’m happily married.”
However, despite this, Ford is refusing to resign from his job and the city council has little power to convince him to do so.
Of course, this is where the bookmakers step in. Many are offering odds on how the series of scandals will end.
For instance punters can find even odds that Ford will remain mayor and there are odds of 3/2 on him taking temporary leave. It seems that bookies believe Ford when he says he won’t resign as there are odds of 9/4 available on him resigning by the end of the year.
The manager of Bodog, Adam Burns, said “We felt like this was a good time to do it because he says he doesn’t want to resign and people in Toronto want him to take a leave. The story’s taken a turn and some sort of decision has to be made.”
