One of Canada’s most successful casinos, Caesars Windsor, is well known for providing support for its local community. Now the casino has committed itself to helping victims of Typhoon Haiyan.
Typhoon Haiyan has left much of the Philippines in ruins and there are thousands struggling to put their lives back together after entire communities were ravaged by the storm.
Employees at Caesars Windsor have pledged their own money to help victims of the storm through internal fundraisers and charitable donations. The Canadian Red Cross is coordinating financial relief through the Philippines Relief Fund and distributing donations from Canadians to the Filipino community. The casino has set itself a goal of raising $5,000 in donations and casino management has promised to match it to increase the total contribution to $10,000. As part of their fund raising efforts employees are organizing an internal bake sale and collecting bed sheets, linens, and clothing to send to the Philippines.
The CEO of Caesars Windsor, Kevin Laforet, said “We are proud of our employees who consistently come forward and ask what they can do to help in our own community.”
