A digital gaming taskforce has been established in Sault Ste. Marie which will aim to capitalize on opportunities in the online gambling industry.
The taskforce was announced by Sault Ste. Marie MPP David Orazietti. He said that Ontario Lottery and Gaming was extremely important and the taskforce was needed to “make sure we help support and modernize that organization.”
The taskforce will be a driving force for ideas and actions and will make sure that local opportunities are used to help the industry grow. Furthermore, Orazietti said that a number of global opportunities have been identified for the digital gaming sector and modernizing the OLG will add additional incentive for action.
The acting CEO of the OLG, Tom Marinelli, said that the lottery and gaming industry is competing in a worldwide market and that it needs to build channels in order to compete. Marinelli said, “That’s why we are involved. We want to create opportunities in the digital gaming industry so that we can increase our revenue for the province of Ontario.”
