A man from Montreal was feeling guilty for missing his mother’s traditional Passover meal; however, he soon felt better when he won a Hollywood poker tournament at the Seminole Hard Rock casino and took home $1 million.

Eric Afriat felt guilty about missing his family’s Passover meal to take part in a poker tournament but he was considerably happier after collecting the $1 million prize.
However, come Wednesday night, when Afriat won the event, he looked anything but depressed as he collected the $1,081,184 prize money.
In the crowd cheering him to victory was his mother and wife who clearly weren’t too upset about his absence on Monday night. After the tournament his mother said, “I couldn’t be prouder.”
Afriat was the only amateur player at the final table but he has been playing poker for 25 years. He was one of 1,795 entrants to the tournament but was far behind chip leader Mukul Pahuja at the start of the final table. Nonetheless, a string of good cards saw soon the two face each other head to head and in just seven hands Afriat was crowned the winner.
