Canada to Face USA in Women’s Ice Hockey Olympic Gold Medal Game

It is now certain that Team Canada will face Team USA in the Winter Olympics women’s ice hockey final.

Team Canada faced tough opposition in the form of star Swiss goaltender Florence Schelling in their last match. As coach Kevin Dineen said before the semi-final, “We pummelled them with shots last game and she stood fast. We’re going to have to maybe change a few things tactically.”

However, it seems that Dineen knew what he was doing and managed to find the right tactics to get past the Swiss goaltender. In a terrific game Schelling wasn’t able to hold of the Canadian team who eventually won 3-1 to go through to the gold medal match.

Earlier this week Team USA defeated Sweden 6 – 1 in an extremely impressive semi-final match which saw the Swedes outshot 70-9 and six different American players score.

Going into the final the odds are extremely close. Betfair is offering odds of 5/6 on both teams suggesting that the match is almost too close to call. However, at other bookies Canada is the marginal favourite.
