On November 6th Real Madrid will be facing Dortmund I the Champions League.
However, after this week’s results, which saw Real Madrid suffer 2 – 1 defeat at Borussia, the match may be more interesting than expected.
On paper it should be an easy win for Real Madrid, bookies have given them odds of 4/11 and Bor Dortmund are massive outsiders with odds of 8/1.
However, in last week’s clash, Madrid soon fell behind to Robert Lewandowski’s goal in the first half. Nonetheless they fought back and Cristiano Ronaldo equalised within a minute.
In the end though Marcel Schmelzer scored a winner for Dortmund and extended Madrid’s poor record in Germany.
Real Madrid has now lost 17 out of 24 games in Germany against German opponents. They have only won once and that was 12 years ago with a 3 – 2 victory at Bayer Leverkusen.
Dortmund is now at the top of Group D with seven points, one more than Madrid. This means that Madrid is sure to fight extremely hard in the next clash in order to gain that top spot.
With the game taking place on Real Madrid’s home turf, it seems that the advantage should be theirs and it is sure to be a thrilling match.
